The Ramsay Milne Trophy – June 9

The Ramsay Milne Trophy 2006-07 has been
won by Emma McIntosh from Muirfield Primary School. Emma has
been playing consistently well all season, and deservedly
scooped the main prize.
Making it a real family double was Robert,
Emma’s younger brother, who had led going into the final round
and came very close to creating a shock result. It was,
nevertheless, a terrific performance by the P4 youngster to
finish third equal.
Girls dominated this years’ event, with
Emma Grant, Newtonhill Primary, winning the tournament by ˝ pt
(but ineligible for the annual trophy), just ahead of Emma
McIntosh, with Clare Fordyce, Muirfield Primary, ˝ pt further
behind making it a 1-2 and 3rd = for the girls.
Although the final result was in doubt until the completion of
the final round, only good performances by Robert McIntosh and
Andrew Troup, Westerton Primary, prevented the boys from being
virtually swept aside.
Tournament sponsor Ramsay Milne attended
the event, chatting to players and parents between rounds before
presenting prizes at the closing ceremony.
