Congratulations Quarryhill

The Quarryhill Primary School Chess
Team (pictured above) has qualified for the final of the Scottish Junior
Chess Primary Schools Teams Championship. This is the third time in
three years that Quarryhill Primary has made it through to the final of
a Scottish Primary teams’ event. The other finalists this year are
Bothwell Primary School (Hamilton), St John’s Primary School (Glasgow),
and Holy Cross Primary School (Croy, North Lanarkshire).
Last year, the Quarryhill team won
the SJC Teams Championship, and the year before finished first equal
with South Morningside (Edinburgh) and Robert Gordon’s in the CS
Championship. The Edinburgh side were awarded the title, in
controversial circumstances, on tie-break.
Quarryhill also
have an excellent record in the Scottish P5 & Under Teams Championship.
In 2002-03, the P5 team tied first equal with Millbank (Nairn), but lost
the play-off. They went one better the following year 2003-04, winning
the title, and have again made it through to this years 2005-06 final,
along with local teams from Middlefield, Muirfield, and Cornhill. |
