ABERDEEN GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIP 2006/07

Last year’s runner-up, Maryann McDonald, has won the Aberdeen Chess Academy’s Girl Champion title. Maryann (Aberdeen Grammar) scored 5/5 for an emphatic win.

Gemma King (Northfield Academy) finished second after one of her best tournament performances, losing only in the final round. In third place was Emma Grant (Newtonhill Primary), who also only lost one game. The top three girls have qualified for the SJC Girls Open final, to be played at Murrayfield on June 17.

The Aberdeen Girls Championship was also a qualifier for the BG sponsored SJC Girls Novice Championship, and again the final is being staged at Murrayfield on June 17. Finalists from the Aberdeen heat are: Caroline Barbour (Tullos Primary); Lisa Bain (Tullos Primary); Hollie Will (Quarryhill Primary); Aminah Ahmed (Cults Primary).
